Endometriosis|HER Body PT

Endometriosis is a condition that affects women of all ages and often goes undiagnosed for many years.

This is a disorder where tissue, that is similar to that found lining the uterus, grows outside of the uterus.  This tissue can affect nerves, muscles and organs and often results in varying degrees of pain.  It is not uncommon for women with Endometriosis to have pelvic pain, bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction.  Cycles can often be heavy and often irregular.

The gold standard for treating this disease is considered to be laparoscopic excision surgery (not ablation).

Physical therapy can help  women with Endometriosis learn to manage the symptoms.  Although PT cannot cure this issue, behavioral modifications, hands on therapy and exercise prescription can certainly be useful.  Post operatively, PT can be beneficial as well.
