Pain with Vaginal Intercourse|HER Body PT
Vaginal penetration should not be painful. Women will often experience pain when first participating in sexual activities or inserting a tampon. Some women postpartum will experience pain especially following a vaginal delivery. Hormonal fluctuations later in life can also result in discomfort with penetration.
Help is available. Women should not accept that penetration=pain. Treatment for this issue may include relaxation strategies, myofascial release work, use of therapeutic tools such as vaginal dilators and pelvic wands.
This can be a difficult topic for many women to discuss with their provider. Dr. Moses' goal is ensure that women feel they have a safe space to discuss these personal issues. Together, with Dr. Moses, you will work to establish a treatment plan that feels comfortable for you.
