What's The Deal with Vibrators? | HER Body PT

Did you know that vibration is therapeutic?

Vibration increases blood flow to an area, which in turn, promotes muscle relaxation. When I used to work in Orthopedics, I would have my post op knee patients apply vibration daily to their healing incisions to further their recovery.

For women that have tight and painful pelvic floor muscles, vibration can be a great therapeutic tool.    Since vibration in and around the vagina can also feel good for many women, it is a great opportunity to help reinforce to the brain that something pleasurable can be felt down there.

When I coach women to use tools such as wands and dilators, I often encourage them to use some form of vibration concordantly.  This can help make the experience much more positive and even enjoyable!

Healing from a recent tear or episiotomy?  Vibration may be appropriate to promote healing.

I love teaching my patients about ways to enhance recovery.  This can be an intimidating conversation for some but I believe that education is key.  It can also be fun to do a little research into the world of toys and vibrators!  There are so many different options and resources available.  As always, I am here to support my patients on their journey and always strive to work within their realm of comfort.
